Is the most southerly of the Rift Valley lakes and is also, biologically the most diverse. The northern shores are home to the Nyakusa people whose huts villages have remained unchanged for centuries.
The Kisi tribe another Nyasa tribe are famous for their pottery. The lake contains 30 % of the world’s cichlid species – colourful fish easily observed in the clear water.
